EACH PIECE CENTERS ON A REMEMBERED FIGURE OR CREATURE, SURROUNDED BY MARKINGS THAT ECHO ANCIENT WALLS, CAVE ETCHINGS, AND FOLK TRADITIONS.

THE DETAILS ARRIVE SLOWLY — SOME IMAGINED, SOME RETURNED AS ECHOES — DRAWN FROM SOMETHING OLDER THAT LINGERS BENEATH THE SURFACE.

EACH TAPESTRY INVITES A SLOWER GAZE: WHAT FIRST SEEMS LIKE A BOLD SILHOUETTE UNFOLDS INTO A MINIATURE WORLD.

A QUIET PAUSE

THIS SERIES BEGAN DURING THE HARDEST SEASON OF MY LIFE. THERE WAS GRIEF, ANGER, BETRAYAL, RUPTURE, SURVIVAL.

THE FIRST PIECES I PAINTED WERE FULL OF RAW EMOTION — RAGE, GRIEF, DISBELIEF. BUT EVENTUALLY, SOMETHING SHIFTED. A QUIET KIND OF ACCEPTANCE CREPT IN. NOT PEACE, BUT ACCEPTANCE. THESE WORKS BEGAN AFTER THAT MOMENT.

THE SERIES IS WOVEN FROM THAT SPACE — A SOFT RECKONING. EACH PIECE IS A CLOSE-UP OF A SINGLE LIFE, IMAGINED OR REAL. THE LINES TRACE A LIFE’S PATH; THE MARKS ARE TURNING POINTS OR MOMENTS OF IMPACT. TOGETHER, THEY REFLECT THE BEAUTY, FAILURE, JOY, AND SCAR TISSUE OF BEING ALIVE.

TO ME, THE WEAVE HOLDS ALL OF THIS: LIVES TOUCHING OTHER LIVES, SOMETIMES TORN, SOMETIMES BOUND TIGHTER BY FLAW.

THESE PAINTINGS AREN’T PART OF MY USUAL EARTHY, SYMBOLIC STYLE — THEY’RE QUIETER. BUT THEY CAME FROM A NECESSARY PLACE.

A PAUSE. A BREATH. A CHANGED HORIZON.
